November 15, 2017 – Tom Linden presents:        “Why Put that There?”

Tom Linden

Our Wednesday Night Speaker is a local Landscape Architect. His company Linden Landscape Architects, LLC. were the designers chosen to design the Elizabeth Park Pond House Garden renovations. These are pictures of the results… Come hear from the expert why plants are placed in specific areas in a garden plan.

Tom Linden has been practicing Landscape Architecture in Connecticut for 30 years. Mainly working in the municipal and educational sectors, he has also provided professional services for commercial, housing, parks , playgrounds and athletic facility projects. He opened his own firm in 2010.

As a landscape architect, sensitivity to environmental concerns are a part of Tom’s everyday design process, whether the project is a 400-car parking lot or the creation of wetlands adjacent to new athletics fields. The role of the landscape architect encompasses everything from plantings and site amenities through grading, pavement design and utilities. Hopefully, at today’s presentation you will gain an understanding of how we approach the design process focusing on plantings, and what we can learn form each other. The Pond House Cafe in Elizabeth Park recently underwent a $235,000 site improvements projects. Upgrades were made to public outdoor spaces at the picnic area adjacent to the take-out window and the path system around the grounds. A new outdoor terrace overlooking the pond was built off the banquet room.
